You Could Be Twins!!! The Spitting Image...

Hey guys, er, girls...:D. I thought it would be fun to talk about genes!!!
Do you ever get told that you look like your mom? Or have the eyes and nose of your dad? What characteristics do you get told you have in common with your parents, both physical and in your personality? What characteristics have you diagnosed to be similar on your own? Are there any characteristics you hope someday to have? Some you never want to have? Do you believe you'll fall into the stereotype of 'becoming your parents' when you grow up and start to have a family?

I can't wait to hear your responses!!!
PS: You can talk about siblings too referring to any of the questions.

So, physically I don't really look like either of my parents. I kinda have a mixture of all of their features. However, most people think I look like my dad because I don't look remotely Asian. My mom likes to joke that I got switched in the hospital; however, the only other baby that was born the same day was from a Korean family so I'm pretty sure I belong to my parents. :) I would also have to say that I am a mixture of my parents personality-wise. My dad is very hot-tempered and emotional while my mom is very calm and almost stoic. I am extremely emotional if I don't get the chance to calm down and isolate myself from the situation. Most people dread turning into their mother or parents, but I would love to be more like my mother. She's extremely intelligent, caring, and most of all, FEARLESS! She's also a great mom! Something I definitely hope to be when I have children of my own.

I have been told that I look so much like both of my parents as well as my sister! People can always guess immediately that my mom and I are mother and daughter anytime we walk in anywhere because we do look alike, however people say that I look more like my dad and my sister looks more like my mom. If you compare a baby picture of mine to a picture of my dad when he was a baby, we look so much alike! And now that I have grown up, we are both tall, and we both have long fingers and toes. But come to think of it, as weird as this sounds, my mom's feet and my feet look identical! Not to mention the fact that everyone used to mistake my sister and I for twins when we were little. Especially when we danced duets at competition as little girls. Sometimes even our family members couldn't tell us apart on stage! Nevertheless, even if my parent's try to joke that my sister or I was adopted, there is WAY too much evidence against them! :)

I definitely don't look like either of my parents - my mom's shorter than me and a blonde hispanic and my dad's 6' tall and hs black hair and is just overall really intimidating haha. However, I've been told repeatedly by all the great-aunts and uncles on my dad's side of my family that I look like the spitting image of my grandma when she was my age. Unfortunately I never met my grandma and I only see pictures of her occasionally so I've never known. Apparently I also have some of her mannerisms, so it definitely would've been nice to have actually met her.

I also don't think I'm like my parents personality wise. My mom is super religious and docile and she doesn't stand up for herself to my dad. She also can never say no to people. My dad on the other hand is a completely controlling and has a temper like none other. I feel like I'm kind of an even mix of them - I don't have a hot temper and I'm pretty laid back but I definitely stick up for himself. I sincerely hope I don't turn into my parents because I just don't want to be like them at all or make their mistakes or anything like that.

I don't think that I look like my parents either! haha most people said that the eldest looked like my dad and the youngest looks like my mom, so I guess I am a perfect mix match of both! haha. It's funny that this topic got brought up because my little sister and I were talking about this a while ago. I think that my sisters and I look very similar, but each have very distinguished looks. For example Seekay (eldest) has the roundest face, I have the oval face, and Seewai (youngest) has the longest face. But for body type, it all got confused! My sisters both have very tiny waists and are fairly short, were I am the tallest in the family (taller than mom and dad too) and also the most buxom! haha I think the funniest thing about my family, is that everyone says that we sound a like, especially on the phone. Many times I have called Seewai mom, or dad has called me Seekay. haha and I can hear it too. I really have to think about it and really analyze the voice to get it right!!! I also have been noticed that my family talks the same, same tone, same expressions, pretty freaky! It was more freaky was when someone pointed it out to me! I denied it then, but now I hear it!
I really see a little bit of my parents in me now. My dad is very quiet, to himself kind of guy, but once you get to know him, he is funny and crazy at times! And my mom is very focused and a thinker and a real planner too! I would love to become a mix match of my parents when I grow up!! They are really amazing people.

Oh shoot I also wanted to add a story my mom told me once. When my mom first brought me to pre school, the teachers loved me so much! They thought I was the cutest thing since I was basically the only non anglo in the class. And the teacher asked my mom, "Where'd you get them?" And of course my mom was totally confused and just said, "Oh! well, they are mine!" And at the time, the teacher gave another confused look to her and they went on their way. It wasn't til the next day mom understood that the teacher thought we were adopted! Since my mom is whiter than white and we (especially as little babies) looked full asian! And even to this day, when I was about 13 or 14 with just my mom, many people first ask before they say 'your mom'! haha.
My sister always laughed and loved our different cultures. In the not so diverse city of Illinois where every block there were indeed corn fields, many thought we were all triplets. or Seekay and I twins (since I grew so fast) since all Asians, look alike... :P

Well, my entire family has very strong characteristics that can't help being passed down. My sisters and I have always been told that Meagan, the oldest, looks like Mom did when she was a baby/kid; Zoe looks like Mom when she was a teenage/young adult; and I look like her as a full blown adult. I don't really know how I feel about this because I'm still supposed to look like a teenager, but whatever. I've also been told that, even though I look like my mom and sound exactly like her (laugh almost included), I'm basically my dad incarnate. Which I'm super proud of. He may be have a rotten temper and NO patience, but he's also incredibly ambitious and has the humor of Kathy Griffin.
The only similarities my sisters and I ever had were the way we act, I suppose. People always said that they could never guess we were sisters until we started talking, because we are the only ten(ish)-year-olds who made perfect eye-contact and didn't mumble or get intimidated when talking to adults, which I think is the funniest thing because I know that I was scared to dead when adults tried to speak to me.
I like that I look more like my parents than like my sisters. It makes it much less likely for someone to call me "so-and-so's sister" in leu of my given name.

It's funny, I hear both that I look just like my mom and that I look just like my dad. I'm not sure which it is, but since my mom is so slender I usually think I look way more like my dad, except I got my mom's eye color (brown, instead of blue/green--darn!). Personality-wise, I have a bit of both of my parents. My dad was way more laidback and calm, and my mom is kind of a worrywart [spelling? I've never tried to write that word before. Haha!]. My mom also has a pretty short fuse when it comes to getting angry. I think that I'm pretty introverted and calm like my dad, but when I get worked up I can really be hot-headed like my mom. I'm like Carolyn, if I don't get the chance to be isolated and calm down, I can really blow up sometimes. It's actually really unfortunate!
Also, my similarities with my brothers are kind of funny. My oldest brother Brian is kind of short and stout, and my brother Colin (the middle child) is super tall and lanky, so I think I'm in the middle and pretty average I suppose. Personality-wise, me and my oldest brother Brian are usually the ones who get into trouble or give my mom a hard time, and we're also both more extroverted than Colin, who is extremely quiet and shy. Colin has also basically never gotten in trouble, unlike Brian and I, so we like to tease my mom that Colin is her favorite child. However, we know she loves all of us even though Brian and I can drive her up the wall sometimes.

Although it typically be said that I look more like my dad, I really am not the spitting image of either of my parents. In personality, I completely match my dad, but in looks, my sister and I could really be twins. She is almost a foot shorter than me, so people will call me my mini me, but she says I am her 'large me.' I think it throws people off when they see the height difference, but when they see pictures of us, sometimes they think it is two pictures of the same person. It is funny how much we look alike, and also funny how much I do not look like my mom. I've been asked before if she is my biological or "real" mom. The thing is if you look closely I have her eyes, but really I don't look like her in the least. My family all looks alike because my brother looks like a boy version of my sister and myself, but he has dark skin like my mom, he somewhat ties all of our features together.
